Week12 Dev Log
These past two weeks, we've been focusing on getting and implementing feedback from faculty about the effectiveness of our game -- mostly, the fact that it's more education than game. With a month left until the deadline, we're changing some of our minigames and adding another to even it out and make it more interactive for our age range. We initially had three games -- picture matching, word matching, and fill in the blank. Now, we have word matching - an interactive match-the-word to its corresponding meaning in the target language, and fill-in-the-blank stayed the same. Our new game is a drag-and-drop game in which you pick which theme you want, whether that's food, family, or clothes, and depending on which one you pick you have various activities to do. With clothes, you're helping Bearington decide what he wants to wear; With food, deciding what to order. For family, you have to drag the correct family member to the silhouette.
Coding is in for the drag and drop system, as well as the matching mechanic. We have the silhouettes working, too, since those are just the sprites filled in with a dark color. We have assets being made, including a plushie that you can dress up as a reward system, moving into next week, but we're re-using most of our assets.
Coding: 15 hours
