Week9 Dev Log
This week, we were focused on adding details to our project, and expanding visually. Our main artists worked on providing backgrounds and buttons, in addition to the ones that were created already, and our asset artist is working on blank buttons that we can add text to within Unity — because we’re starting to get localization set up! We have an Excel sheet with different languages in each column, hand-translating each word into a chosen language. We’re having issues getting it to register different characters, such as Chinese symbols or the ¡ found in Spanish, so that’s something we’re working on problem solving. In addition to that, we got valuable feedback about the structure of our game and how it doesn’t work very well for children (appearing to be more of a workbook than a game), so we’re going to work on brainstorming ways that we can tweak our existing prototype to work better for children, and to work more as a game than a tool.
