Week 6 Devlog
As of this week, we've worked on concepting, as well as getting Fungus up and running. We have the main menu screen almost complete, and our main background artist is finishing up the Title Screen art. We've decided to go with an animal theme - in our research, we discovered a lot of the media has very simplified shapes, or has animal characters; We think setting up the Bear as the main/tutorial character will help keep the theme cohesive, and make it easier for children to understand.
We've decided on three minigames to focus on: Picture Matching, Sentence Building, and Word Matching. In addition to that, we've started gauging the possibility of implementing a progression or leveling system for each of them -- It should be easier to visibly see progress with it, and what needs improvement. Plus, children learn best with rewards! For our Picture and Word Matching games, work has begun in scripting the code needed to implement the matching system.
Discussion is being made as to implementing a progression/difficulty system - for example, in Word Matching, if the words can get more and more different from each other as you progress. We're working on making it so that it gets more difficult as you get correct answers, but decrease in difficulty as you get things wrong.
